A twiG journal entry

I really felt that the Lord would have me get another blog post out and wasn't sure what to write, so I looked in my journal for inspiration and felt as though I should just share a journal entry. It is my "twiG" journal, twiG standing for "time with God". In the past, I have called it a quiet time, but I have since landed on this acronym because it is fitting to what I want to accomplish and reminds me that Jesus said: I Am the vine, you are the branches . I feel that I am but a twig and there is no way that I can live this life without life from The Vine.  So here is my twiG journal entry: [I usually write the date, centered in the page with the year written in the top corner of the page.  Sometimes I fill up just part of a page sometimes several pages. It depends on the time I spend. I sometimes start out writing an opening prayer to the Lord, sometimes I start out writing the reference to the passage I'm reading and then the verses that stand out to me.

"Wear Forgiveness Like A Crown"

“ And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved.” And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.” Nehemiah 8:9-12 ESV The women's ministry in our church, like many other churches, has women's Bible studies throughout the year. Recently, I had the honor of leading a small group discussion on our study through Nehemiah. Nehemia

My Prayer

"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this:‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Jesus  (Mark 12:30-31 ESV ) Ahh, this has been the prayer of my heart for some time now. I think that I have prayed it almost daily for my family for over 8 years now. It is usually what I pray when I wake up in the middle of the night. Many times when asked if I have any prayer requests this is what I ask for myself and my family. My prayer has gone something like this: Father God, please help Cary and I, Kayla, Katina, Keanan and Kenton to love You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves -beginning with one another. Why have I made this my almost daily prayer? Because Jesus said that this is the greatest commandment and if I love God and love man I will fulfill all the commandments.
